“The Witcher” and “Artemis” are two books I’ve read that have been challenged The top reasons for these books being challenged are extreme themes of sex, violence, and other themes that are cruel or otherwise vulgar. I believe the book “Flight” could be controversial because the main character’s behavior suggests that he has encountered situations involving him or the body he is possessing, where vulgar activities like using profanity and exploring explicit themes take place. Some issues in the book that relate to issues in teens today are anger, depression, loneliness, and the search for identity. For example, in Zits, he grew up without parents from the age of six. He was then put into foster care where he got kicked out of several foster homes before getting shot in the bank. Things that have made Zits’ a controversial person include his vulgar and unfiltered personality and his ability to get into any sort of conflict possible. I believe these actions are filled with controversy because not all people appreciate swearing or other explicit ways of expression.
